About Big Bear Cafe
Since 2007, DC native and cafe owner, Stu Davenport has been crafting Big Bear into the quintessential neighborhood gathering place. Their menu is seasonal and filled with lots of local options—- not a surprise since their patio is home of the Bloomingdale Farmers’ Market. More than just a coffee shop, their dinner and bar offerings are somewhat new and include a weekly Saturday barbecue with a signature Big Bear Rub. When Stu is not planning a bluegrass night and other fun concepts for his ever-expanding cafe you can count on seeing him working in the cafe garden, installing a new birdhouse (his nephew, Churchill, makes them) or experimenting with new ways to pickle various vegetables to serve with barbecue.
