On Wednesday, October 5th, Think Local First DC’s newest local initiative, Listen Local First, with launch the first ever DC Local Music Day.
Listen Local

Created in collaboration with TLF, Rene Moffatt and Chris Naoum have worked to organize a local music initiative devoted to building awareness and creating opportunities for local musicians and venues in order to raise the profile of DC’s local music scene. LLF seeks to partner with local musicians, local arts organizations, local venues and locally owned businesses to create performance opportunities and new avenues for local music exploration.

“The idea actually came from the realization that local galleries, boutiques, coffee shops and restaurant that focus on supporting local, should be highlighting local musical talent by streaming the albums of local musicians in their businesses during hours of operation,” explains Naoum. “The Local business supports the local artists and in turn the local musicians tell their friends family and fans to support the businesses that are supporting them.”

On October 5th local businesses throughout the city (an updated list of local participating businesses can be found at www.listenlocalfirst.com) will be streaming the albums of eight (8) local bands and musicians all day in their venues.
